See how the Transformer planet of Cybertron was brought to life in this io9 exclusive.
The fact 2024 brought us a brand new, animated Transformers film was special on its own. That the movie, Transformers One, is as incredible as it is, is even better. And that the film explored aspects of the franchise fans had been dying to see for years was just the cherry on top. If you missed it in theaters, Transformers One is available on digital release as of today. The film, directed by Josh Cooley, tells the story of how two of the most famous TransformersâOptimus Prime and Megatronâwent from best friends to mortal enemies. And it does it completely on Cybertron, the home planet of the Transformers, which is long gone by the time all the stories we’ve seen before take place. So how did the team behind Transformers One create this planet? Well, below, you can see an exclusive clip from one of the special features on the release diving into just that. Check it out and then also check out Transformers One. It’s truly an excellent movie for anyone who loves giant robots, science fiction, animation, and more. That’s part of the special features on the home release, which is on digital now and coming to 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 17. Here’s the full list of bonus content: Transformers One features the voices of Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. Read our review here, and interviews with director Josh Cooley (spoiler and non-spoiler) there. Want more io9 news?
