Did you like Alien: Romulus? Were you planning it grabbing it on DVD or Blu-Ray in December, but still feel like it’s coming out in the wrong format? Then you’ll be pleased to hear it’s being released on VHS. Come December 3 (the same day as its other two physical releases), 20th Century Studios is putting Romulus on fully functional tape for you to watch…provided you’ve got a VCR on hand. This is a limited edition version of the movie, though, and the studio was vague on both how many copies there are before supply runs out and how much this version will cost you. (Also, the tape has only the film and no special featurette attached at the end, like some used to back in the day). Still, if you’re a collecting fiend, then this might be worth a grab, especially since its cover art was done by reliable poster artist Matt Ferguson. So happy I got work with Disney and 20th Century Studios to produce a one sheet poster for Alien Romulus. This one is going to be given away exclusively by @Cinemark for their XD screenings. Not sure my nerves can wait for this movie! pic.twitter.com/OoAfEvt0i6 — Matt Ferguson (@Cakes_Comics) July 30, 2024 Alien: Romulus has been pretty popular since its release in mid-August. On opening weekend, it made $108.2 million worldwide, making it the second-biggest start for the series behind Prometheus back in 2012. It went on to make $350.4 million and with solid reviews and impressions behind it, dominated the conversation during the tail end of the summer movie season. (Not always in a good way, but still.) It’s a big win for director Fede Álvarez and the 45-year-old franchise overall, which is getting a bit of a resurgence in the next few years. Noah Hawley’s Alien: Earth is hatching sometime in 2025, and earlier this month, Creative Assembly announced it was in early pre-production on a sequel to the 2014 game Alien: Isolation.   Want more io9 news?
