Code in the Android 15 beta software appears to show that Google is preparing cross-device syncing for Android devices.

By Wes Davis, a weekend editor who covers the latest in tech and entertainment. He has written news, reviews, and more as a tech journalist since 2020. Google appears to be working on a way to finally synchronize notifications across devices in its ecosystem, according to Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman, who discovered code references to a new “sync across devices” option in the Android 15 beta. The snippet is apparently located under the Notifications section of Settings, nestled between “sensitive notifications” and a new “notification cooldown” option he spotted last week. There’s no Android notification syncing feature at the moment, as Rahman notes. So if you dismiss a notification on your Android tablet, the same notification will still greet you over on your phone later. This would, I’m sure, be a welcome change for most. The sync code also lies under an Android-specific controller, implying that the feature would be a little treat for all of the Android ecosystem rather than for Pixel devices alone, writes Rahman. But there’s apparently no accompanying description that would confirm that, so there’s still a possibility that this could be a Pixel exclusive. / Sign up for Verge Deals to get deals on products we’ve tested sent to your inbox weekly.
