The Star Wars star’s hints about wanting a season two are starting to sound like all the hints he dropped before the Disney+ series arrived in the first place.

In the world of Star Wars, never say never. Characters who seem gone forever may return; movies that seem to have a lot of momentum may suddenly drop off the production schedule. While some Lucasfilm decisions do feel permanent on occasion (RIP, The Acolyte), there’s always a chance that certain Disney+ shows that haven’t been officially shuttered may continue. Ahsoka is the obvious title to think about—unless you’re Ewan McGregor, chief spokesperson for more Obi-Wan Kenobi. If McGregor poking the universe to consider bringing back the Disney+ series sounds familiar, that’s because the actor has brought it up several times since the show’s 2022 airing. The first season ran for six episodes and picked up with the Jedi Master in Luke Skywalker-watching mode on Tatooine—a bit closer to the events of Revenge of the Sith than A New Hope. Just last month, while McGregor was doing press ahead of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he told Variety that he wasn’t ready to pack those brown robes up for good. “I really do hope we get a chance to do another one,” he told the trade in September. “Between where we ended off in the series and when Alec Guinness comes on screen with Luke Skywalker, I think there’s another few stories to tell in there.” Star Wars: A New Hope for More of Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi continued its saga at the recent Los Angeles Comic Con, where his on-stage chat (posted on YouTube by Nico7, via IGN) naturally brought the topic to the fore. While he stopped short of confirming anything, he did say there has been some “exploring”—after correcting himself from saying “hoping”—around the idea of bringing the show back. He had high praise for Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow, calling her “brilliant” and “a great leader” who “really understands the world of Star Wars.” Of course, there’s been zero word from Disney or Lucasfilm or anyone with the power to actually get Obi-Wan Kenobi season two officially rolling, but McGregor putting the word out there over and over keeps it a notion that’s still part of the Star Wars conversation. Along with McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi featured Rupert Friend as the Grand Inquisitor, Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother, Moses Ingram as Reva Sevander/Third Sister, Vivien Lyra Blair as Leia Organa, Kumail Nanjiani as Haja Estree, Indira Varma as Tala Durith, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Kawlan Roken, and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
